Most of us know that professional athletes in most every sport have athletic trainers, strength coaches, massage therapists, and team doctors at their disposal, but did you know that chiropractors are included in the list of most valuable people for many professional athletes.
Professional athletes in have been reaping the benefits of visiting chiropractors for many years. Many people have heard the stories of Jerry Rice, the NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver; and Emmitt Smith, the NFL Hall of Fame running back and all-time leading rusher, who both regularly used chiropractors as part of their regimen while playing in the NFL. Chiropractic care helped both Rice and Smith them recover from the punishment they received in football games as well.
In the video shown below you can see Maurice Jones-Drew, the Jacksonville Jaguars star running back, as he incorporates chiropractic into his weekly routine.
As you noticed in the video, Maurice Jones-Drew did not visit a chiropractor at the team’s training facility. He did not go to a chiropractor that was on the team payroll. He didn’t see a chiropractor because the team trainer told him that he was required to. Instead, Jones-Drew went to the chiropractor of his own choosing in addition to all of the services the team provided. Not only did it help his body recover faster and feel better, but it helped him be ready to perform at his best the in the next week’s game.
So what can the rest of us learn from this. First, regular chiropractic care can help us feel better than we otherwise would. Second, chiropractic care can help improve your athletic performance. Third, you don’t need to wait until you are in pain, or suffer an injury before visiting your chiropractor.
Think of it this way… Do we wait to go to the dentist until we have a toothache or cavity? Of course we don’t. We want to do what we can to keep from ending up in that situation where our health is impaired. The same thing can be said for chiropractic. So try to see your chiropractor on a regular basis. Your body will thank you.
